Abstract

Knowledge of peak discharge is essential for safe and economical planning and design of hydraulic structures. In India, as in most developing countries, the majority of river basins are either sparsely gauged or not gauged at all. The gauged records are also of short length (generally 15–30 years), therefore development of robust models is necessary for estimation of streamflows. Various studies reveal that flood estimation through channel geometry is an alternative method for ungauged catchments. It is appropriate for use where flow characteristics are poorly related to catchment area and other catchment characteristics. In the present study, stream geometry parameters for 42 river sites in central-south India were used; calibration equations were developed with data for 35 stations and tested on data for the remaining seven stations. The relationships developed between mean discharge and channel geometry parameters provide an alternative technique for estimation of mean annual channel discharge.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper explores the potential for seasonal prediction of hydrological variables that are potentially useful for reservoir operation of the Three Gorges Dam, China. The seasonal flow of the primary inflow season and the peak annual flow are investigated at Yichang hydrological station, a proxy for inflows to the Three Gorges Dam. Building on literature and diagnostic results, a prediction model is constructed using sea-surface temperatures and upland snow cover available one season ahead of the prediction period. A hierarchical Bayesian approach is used to estimate uncertainty in the parameters of the prediction model and to propagate these uncertainties to the predictand. The results show skill for both the seasonal flow and the peak annual flow. The peak annual flow model is then used to estimate a design flood (50-year flood or 2% exceedence probability) on a year-to-year basis. The results demonstrate the inter-annual variability in flood risk. The predictability of both the seasonal total inflow and the peak annual flow (or a design flood volume) offers potential for adaptive management of the Three Gorges Dam reservoir through modification of the operating policy in accordance with the year-to-year changes in these variables.  相似文献

Abstract

In determining the possible influence of climate change, it is important to understand the temporal and spatial variability in streamflow response for diverse climate zones. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine the presence of changes in annual maximum peak flow for two climate zones in Chile over the past few decades. A general analysis, a flood frequency analysis and a trend analysis were used to study such changes between 1975 and 2008 for a semi-arid (29°S–32°S) and a temperate (36°S–38°S) climatic zone. The historic annual maxima, minima and mean flows, as well as decadal mean peak flow, were compared over the period of record. The Gumbel distribution was selected to compare the 30-year flood values of two ±15-year intervals, which showed that streamflow decreased by an average of 19.5% in the semi-arid stations and increased by an average of 22.6% in the temperate stations. The Mann-Kendall test was used to investigate the temporal changes in streamflows, with negative trends being observed in 87% of the stations analysed in the semi-arid zone, and positive trends in 57% of those analysed in the temperate zone. These differences in streamflow response between climate zones could be related to recent documented increases in altitude of the zero-degree isotherm in the Andes Mountains of Chile, since most of the significant positive and negative changes were detected in first-order rivers located closer to this mountain range.

Abstract

Large errors in peak discharge estimates at catchment scales can be ascribed to errors in the estimation of catchment response time. The time parameters most frequently used to express catchment response time are the time of concentration (TC), lag time (TL) and time to peak (TP). This paper presents a review of the time parameter estimation methods used internationally, with selected comparisons in medium and large catchments in the C5 secondary drainage region in South Africa. The comparison of different time parameter estimation methods with recommended methods used in South Africa confirmed that the application of empirical methods, with no local correction factors, beyond their original developmental regions, must be avoided. The TC is recognized as the most frequently used time parameter, followed by TL. In acknowledging this, as well as the basic assumptions of the approximations TL = 0.6TC and TCTP, along with the similarity between the definitions of the TP and the conceptual TC, it was evident that the latter two time parameters should be further investigated to develop an alternative approach to estimate representative response times that result in improved estimates of peak discharge at these catchment scales.

基于ABAQUS显式有限元并行计算平台,采用大尺度二维精细化有限元非线性分析方法,研究泉州盆地地震效应特征.结果表明:(1)与基岩输入地震动相比,地表峰值加速度总体呈放大效应,且盆地不同位置的放大效应存在明显差异;(2)地表或基岩剧烈起伏及土层横向分布极不均匀处,地震动易产生局部聚集效应,相应地表地震动呈显著放大或缩小效应;地表加速度反应谱产生双峰甚至多峰现象.(3)在土层竖向、横向分布不均匀处,峰值加速度沿深度方向呈非单调递减,加速度反应谱沿深度存在较大差异.场地地震效应的二维非线性分析法能在一定程度上反映特殊场地条件对地震动效应的影响,该结果可为泉州盆地及类似盆地的场地设计地震动参数的确定提供参考依据.  相似文献

E层占优电离层是指E层的峰值电子密度大于F层的峰值电子密度(NmE>NmF)时的电离层,记为ELDI(E-Layer Dominated Ionosphere)。针对ELDI,利用2007-2010年的COSMIC (Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere, and Climate satellite)掩星数据,在修正地磁纬度-磁地方时标系下统计分析了它在南北极区极夜期间(南北半球的冬至日前后30天)的分布特征,结果表明极夜期间电离层ELDI特征明显,其分布与极光椭圆位形基本一致,而且其在夜侧的发生率较高,特别是磁子夜之后,北极为70%左右,而南极为90%左右;另外南极的ELDI特征在磁纬度分布上要略宽于北极的分布范围。在ELDI高发区,电离层峰值电子密度要高于其两侧地区,特别是在夜侧,尤其是磁子夜前的峰值电子密度要接近甚至大于磁正午的峰值电子密度,在南极地区格外明显;而且ELDI高发区内的E层的电子含量(TECE)、电离层总电子含量(TECI)及TECE占TECI的比重(TECEI)都高于其两侧地区,北极TECE和TECI大于南极,而TECEI则是南极大于北极。这些现象主要是由于极夜期间极区高能粒子沉降引起底部电离层电离率增大所致;同时,由于地磁轴偏离地理轴的程度在南极要大于北极,使得极夜期间南极地区的电离层的电子密度,特别是在F层要相应地小于北极地区,从而导致了极夜期间南北半球极区电离层ELDI特征之间差异。  相似文献

为探讨铁对颗石藻生长及光合作用的影响, 以分离于秘鲁上升流区域的两株不同基因型的赫胥黎艾氏藻Emiliania huxleyi RCC6660与RCC6666为研究对象, 在调整5种铁浓度(0、50、100、500、1 000 nmol/L)的Aquil培养基中培养, 比较其生长率、色素含量、营养盐消耗、颗粒有机物含量及叶绿素荧光特性参数的差异。实验结果表明: 铁浓度未对两株藻的生长产生显著影响, 但0 nmol/L时RCC6660的比生长率显著高于RCC6666(P < 0.05)。随着铁浓度的减少, 细胞粒径和体积减小, 最大电子传递速率(rETRmax)和表观光能利用效率降低。我们推测RCC6660为了保护细胞在低铁时免受光损伤, 通过叶黄素循环以及高度钙化的外壳实现光保护, 而RCC6666通过更多其他形式的非光化学荧光淬灭的手段。由于钙化是个耗能过程, 低钙化的RCC6666的光能利用效率在低铁浓度下也更高。但RCC6660的rETRmax更大, 拥有较高的光合潜力, 这可能与其拥有的更高含量的色素有关。本研究揭示了不同基因型、不同钙化程度的两株Emiliania huxleyi对不同铁浓度的差异响应, 及铁限制条件下光保护机制和光能利用的不同, 为进一步研究光合和钙化作用的偶联机制提供了参考。  相似文献

福建紫金山铜矿床属高硫浅成中低温热液矿床,矿石中主要含铜矿物为蓝辉铜矿、铜蓝和硫砷铜矿等,且铜矿物与黄铁矿密切共生。由于铜矿石中硫含量较高,导致铜精矿中硫含量超标,w(S)/w(Cu)比值为2.0~2.1,远高于冶炼要求的1.15~1.20,影响其经济价值。使用X射线荧光(XRF)光谱分析对紫金山铜矿中S元素的分布进行数字化研究,查明硫的空间分布规律和赋存状态,划分铜矿石类型,为紫金山铜矿今后的采选工作提供参考。  相似文献
